The monastery in Montserrat, Spain is a piece of heaven hear on earth. The location is high up in the limestone mountains. When the bells toll for mass they echo off the rock and sound throughout the canyon below. The basilica is beautiful with many exquisite carvings and paintings. The boys choir is world famous for a reason. Simply angelic. Take a look at the video and see why this is a must see when you are close to
The amazing architecture of these structures that have lasted for 2000 years is amazing enough let alone hearing the stories of the events that took place on these sites. The early morning sun brings a surprise that changes the history of the world. We are all given hope through the death and resurrection of Christ. Rejoice and be glad. I wrote the second half of this song when I was 15 or 16 years of age. I added the beginning part of the song years later to reflect the early morning hours and how this new day would bring forth a New Hope for all.
Darkness, pain and total abandonment is the tone. My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Listen to this dark song of loneliness. Make sure you listen to the end as there is something stunning for your emotions.
Jesus asked three of His closest disciples to stay and be with Him as he prayed in the garden. Jesus prayed in the garden. He asked God if this cup of going to the cross could be removed. He shed tears.
The three disciples fell asleep, Judas betrayed Him and led the army to Jesus. These events unfolded early that morning and the Road of Truth took Jesus on a path that would change the world.
Listen to, "Passion." Feel the immense weight of Jesus obedience to follow the path and take the terrible steps he trod for us on the “Road of Truth,” to the cross.
Jesus shared His Last Supper with the disciples. He knew within the next 24 hours, one would betray him, one would deny him and the rest would scatter like lost sheep. Yet He communed with them sharing bread and wine. Look into the knowing eyes of Jesus in your mind and feel the joy in this gift of communion He gave not only to his disciples but to all mankind. Then feel the sadness Jesus felt in knowing the pain and loss that His disciples would feel as their world would be turned upside down in the next few hours.
Mary anointed Jesus with a bottle of expensive perfume and washed his feet with her hair. She did something for Jesus that is remembered to this day. She prepared him for burial. Some criticized her because they thought it was a waste of money. Jesus, however, knew she had done something very wonderful and significant for him. Sometimes the blessings we receive are misunderstood and taken the wrong way. As you listen to this song, contemplate the blessings you have received throughout your life, and seek in your mind how you can use what you have been given to bless others. My gift to you is this song that was originally played at my youngest son's wedding.
Jesus began his journey into holy week riding a donkey into Jerusalem. The crowd waved palm branches and cheered hosanna as he passed by. All along He knew his destination was not just Jerusalem. All along He knew that some of these same people would being crying “Crucify Him,” later that same week. As you listen to this song, picture the scene in your head and feel the emotions Jesus felt as he made that journey on the Road of Truth to his destiny.
